Featuring 180 lakes, this stunning wetland landscape serves as a true wildlife haven and a venue for wild swimming, watersports and sailing clubs. Their designated swimming lakes and famous in-land beach, offer lifeguard monitered swimming sessions along with a variety of activity days.
A fantastic choice for families, this inland beach features a designated swimming lagoon with seasonal lifeguard supervision, bbq area hire, cafes and playareas. The Country Park also hosts a range of activities including AquaVenture watertop playcourse, MiniGolf, watersports and more.
This lake offers organised swimming sessions with marked courses, excellent water quality, changing facilities, and safety support. It’s a slightly quieter, more swimming focused alternative to the family day out centred ‘Country Park and Beach’. It’s ideal for both first-time open-water swimmers and experienced enthusiasts.
Geared towards stronger swimmers, Lake 86 offers looped 400m and 800m courses, perfect for longer distance open water swimming. Visitors must be 18+ and able to swim 400m unaided. Swimming is only permitted during official sessions, (late March to the end of September) and offers professional safety support, providing a well-managed environment for open-water enthusiasts.
Just over an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, Clevedon Marine Lake offers a unique coastal swimming experience. This large tidal infinity pool on the Somerset coast is free to use and provides safe, sheltered sea swimming with beautiful views across the Bristol Channel. It’s an excellent option if you’re looking for a refreshing seaside day trip during your stay.
