Cheltenham Literature Festival is not only globally renowned, but as the world’s first-ever literature festival, it’s historically significant too. 

It celebrates written and spoken word and hosts authors and other special guests from around the globe, such as Stanley Tucci, Tan France and Mary Berry. No matter which year you participate in the festival, big celebrity guests and best-selling authors such as Jamie Oliver, Stephen King and Celeste Ng will always be there.

This impressive 10-day festival includes ticketed events and free family activities, so get your Cheltenham Literature Festival booking done early, so you don’t miss out. There are events based at the main location – Montpellier Gardens – and additional events throughout the town as part of the Lit Crawl. 

Children will enjoy Story Shack, the dedicated space at the festival for children to enjoy readings from popular children’s book authors. The festival offers more than books, e.g. in the most recent festival, Woodland Trust created an event to help children explore nature through games and crafts. Pop-up events throughout the festival include visits from favourite storybook characters.

Around town, you’ll discover everything from open mic nights to creative workshops to participating in The Time Crossword. The multi-storey Waterstones nearby is also a festival partner where you’ll find several events. Cheltenham hosts several pop-up events as businesses throughout the town host talks and workshops.

Just as books cover topics on all aspects of life, so does the festival. You’ll find events on all sorts of topics, and with 2022, for example, featuring around 900 speakers in 560 events, there truly is something for everyone.

In addition to entertainment, there are food and drink stalls at the festival. Given the festival’s central location, numerous restaurants, bars and shops are just across the road from the festival’s heart.

    I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Luxury Apartments Cheltenham to anyone. The apartment we stayed in was lovely and so well equipped. Customer service is amazing with very quick response via email or on phone. We will definitely be using luxury apartments again on our next visit to Cheltenham.

    It is well equipped, very clean and extremely comfortable

    After having a number of overseas trips cancelled we like many others decided to holiday in the UK. We had never been to the Cotswolds and thanks to Luxury Serviced Apartments they found us an ideal property in Cheltenham. The apartment was on Queens Parade and is a charming 2 bedroom in the lovely Montpellier district. The apartment is well located for Cheltenham itself and for exploring further afield. It is well equipped, very clean and extremely comfortable. Also the service from Dan and Rachel was impeccable. We look forward to returning as we had a fantastic week here.
